Located in Oakland, CA, The Mosaic Project is dedicated to fostering a harmonious future through the unification of individuals from various backgrounds. The organization equips them with crucial community-building skills and empowers them to embrace the role of peacemakers. With programs catering to both youth and adults, the entire community experiences the advantages, from benefiting schools, community-based organizations, and workplaces alike.

Since their establishment, they have delivered immersive experiential education programs in equity, empathy, and effective communication across differences to more than 62,000 children and 22,000 adults. Their ultimate goal is to showcase that peace within their communities is attainable and to motivate positive actions.

For the Mosaic Project, a computer donation from Revivn enabled them to establish a digital web base for their data and program development. This significant step allowed them to transition from traditional paper evaluations to online evaluations, streamlining the process and facilitating data analysis with greater ease. Prior to Revivn's generous support, obtaining enough working laptops for this purpose had been a challenge. Lara Mendel, Co-Founder & Executive Director, expressed her gratitude for the donation, emphasizing how it played a crucial role in enhancing their organization's capabilities and efficiency.

“We are saving countless hours in which we had to scan paper evaluations and analyze the data. Now we can do it quickly and easily through Google Forms. As we continue to evaluate our programs online, the process will get easier and easier. We can share the data with foundations and individual donors to increase our support.”

What does your organization do, the impact it has, and your role within the organization?

The Mosaic Project works toward a peaceful future by uniting people of diverse backgrounds, providing them with essential community-building skills, and empowering them to become peacemakers. Our complementary work with youth and adults not only supports our youngest peacemakers, but also enables us to reach wider communities through schools, community-based organizations, and the workplace. Together, we create microcosms of the just, diverse, inclusive world we envision, demonstrate that peace in our communities is possible, and inspire action.

We teach individuals of all ages the skills needed to create more peaceful, inclusive communities. Since our founding in 2000, we have provided over 62,000 children and 22,000 adults with our unique immersive experiential education programs in equity, empathy, and effective communication across differences. The Outdoor Project, Mosaic’s signature program, brings together 4th and 5th grade classes from markedly different backgrounds for a profound weeklong experience in nature. Our curriculum, based on proven research in social-emotional learning, is designed to address issues of difference, build self-esteem, and inspire inclusion.  Our five-minute video at www.mosaicproject.org/#video truly captures the music and magic of the Outdoor Project. Our In-School Project, Youth Leadership Project, and professional development trainings deepen and sustain the impact of Mosaic’s Outdoor Project.
