Q: Can you describe your position at Revivn?
A: My main role within Revivn is centered around managing the entirety of inbound operations. I coordinate all deliveries from our agent pickups, facilitate internal pickups from our partners, and build a team that goes on pickups, as well as receives, sorts, and creates inventory for every item that goes into Revivn’s pipeline. We nickname inbound operations the “powerhouse” since this is where Revivn’s whole warehouse operations begin.
Q: Can you tell me a bit about your career journey before Revivn?
A: I moved to New York 9 years ago from Kenya because I wanted to further my studies and have better living conditions. After my graduation, my career has predominantly been within retail chain management, warehousing, and logistics. Right before Revivn, I was part of the Clutter team. I began there as a lead driver managing teams through daily pickups. Then, I moved on to a senior lead role assisting managers with coordinating various teams in the field. Later on, I pioneered as a team trainer for field processes.
Q: How did you originally hear about Revivn?
A: I heard about Revivn while I was still working at my previous Job. At the end of 2021, there were some major changes within my previous company management and warehouse processes. It made a lot of employees–including myself– lose our sense of job security, so I decided to begin job searching. I came across Revivn a few times on Indeed, but I couldn't see any management position that spiked my interest. After about six months, I got a call from a coworker that had left my previous job. He introduced me to the Revivn team, and I found out they were hiring for the Inbound Supervisor role. I set up my interview and later on found out the best of the best had migrated here.
Q: What drew your attention to Revivn?
A: The major draw towards Revivn was the fact that it can still be considered a start-up company because I’ve always had a huge interest in building teams and processes from scratch. Revivn provided an environment where the exchange of ideas into execution of processes really mattered. An opportunity to exercise this aspect of my strengths has been my biggest draw to Revivn.
Q: What is the best part about working at Revivn?
A: The best part about working at Revivn is the cohesive working environment. Having a hands-off management style within large corporations can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, management provides employees with the right amount of initiative and empowerment. On the other hand, there is limited interaction between management and employees. However, Revivn utilizes a transparent hands-on approach, which really fits my work style. I have been able to get absorbed in an environment where every voice matters and everyone is held with the utmost of importance. In my very first interview, I couldn't distinguish the difference between managers and employees since everyone works cohesively here. That’s unusual to find.
Q: What is the proudest thing you've accomplished at Revivn?
A: The proudest thing I’ve accomplished at Revivn is integrating my ideas with experience and developing an operation from scratch. Finding a great team has always been on my to-do list. Revivn has fortunately provided a space that allows me to be directly involved on a one-on-one basis and provide guidance to other team members. I’ve been able to leave a positive impact on fellow coworkers and Revivn’s company culture as a whole.
Q: If you could switch jobs with anyone at Revivn for a day, who would it be?
A: If I could switch jobs with anyone at Revivn, it would be Grant, the General Manager of Operations for the Northeast. With a positive attitude, quick problem-solving skills, reliability, and respect, he is generally the backbone of the whole operation. I would love to switch jobs with him for the day, but only if he shared his expertise of people skills with me.
Q: Describe your Revivn experience in one word. And why that word?
A: I would describe Revivn as innovative. I have had such an amazing opportunity to bring my own ideas to the table and assist in improving operations. Revivn has provided a company culture in which all ideas are good enough to be set out on the table and discussed. With this kind of open-idea environment, the company has seen nothing but growth and progress.
Q: Why should someone work at Revivn?
A: I believe the best way to grow in any career is to first, be in an environment that facilitates growth. Revivn provides the necessary tools to do that and sets you up for a growth trajectory like no other. I’d say it's the perfect place for anyone with a growth mindset.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: Most of what I do for fun is spent outdoors. I am a competitive cyclist, and I've been part of a Strava cycling team for about a year now. I also love sightseeing and anything adventure-based like mountain climbing, dirt-bike adventures, and off-road trailing.
Q: What's something people might not know about you?
A: I am a multilingual speaker. I currently speak 4 languages. Part of my goal is to learn as many languages as I possibly can. I spend half an hour every day on Babbel, which is a language learning platform. I'm currently learning Mandarin. The reason why I love it is because I use language, history, and cultural foods as a tool to learn about other cultures.
