Here at Revivn we have a multitude of talented and passionate employees working in a variety of roles from our office to the warehouse. In our Employee Spotlight series, we’ll get up close and personal with some of these great team members to learn a bit more about them. Our first Revivn Employee Spotlight features Alexis Lynch, Senior Partner Executive, and her journey with Revivn over the past 4 years.
I started at Revivn 4 years ago and was their first full time sales rep. At the time, we were all working out of Building 3 - the warehouse. The warehouse was super loud and not your standard office environment, so we had to do our best to maintain professionalism when talking to partners and doing day to day tasks. I was the only female employee at the time, and we were just a team of 5 grinding. After a few months, Revivn graduated to an office where we reside now. I was working hard to learn everything I could about building relationships with our partners directly from Revivn’s founders, Anthony and John. They developed a Partner Devleopment Processthat included who our target market was, how to reach out to potential partners, and what messaging and content to use. This process worked for John and Anthony, but I was the guinea pig in the equation to see if it was at all scaleable. It started working and I began booking meetings quickly. After a few months of hitting my meetings quotas, I started the transition of moving into a full cycle rep. This included setting up calls for John and Anthony still, while starting to get on the phones myself with potential prospects. There was never any formal training, I learned by listening and observing John and Anthony doing their thing. Slowly, I began closing clients and eventually grew into the role of a partner executive, beginning with taking what we at Revivn call “starter” accounts, until I gradually moved up to working and closing enterprise accounts.
I actually started my career in retail, but had a strong desire to move into a career involving sustainability. I went back to school part time to receive a graduate certification in environmental sustainability. After doing some research, I found Revivn on AngelList, and what drew me initially was their mission-driven focus. After reaching out, John sold me on a traditional partner development role - even though I had no startup experience only working in large retailers. I can’t say the certificate played much of a role in them hiring me - they focus on the people they’re hiring and if they are a fit for that role rather than all the extra credentials. I went from working for a Fortune 500 company to a startup, so it was a big change but it ended up being exactly what I needed.
I would say I’m most proud of taking the risk to join the sales team when I was the sales team.. One of our core values is embracing ambiguity and there was a lot of that in the beginning (and still to this day)! It is a scary leap going from a cushy company to one that is just getting started. I saw that reporting directly to the founders was a huge opportunity for me to learn - the lack of a sales team and female presence didn’t matter. I feel lucky to have found this opportunity when I did and thankful that John and Anthony also took the risk in hiring me.
I’ve been dubbed the “Foodie” in our office as I’m constantly looking for the latest restaurants that have opened in the city. I even made a list of restaurants and different spots around the office for my coworkers to refer to. I love trying new spots around New York - it’s always a fun experience that has led to many great stories.
I would definitely say Jack Simon. He’s the most tenured employee at Revivn and started his career working in the warehouse doing basically everything - logistics, resale, pickups, all of it. Being able to understand everything that goes into operating the backend side of the company would be so insightful. Since Jack has been with Revivn through so much change, he is the oracle to all of this knowledge.
